Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead November 2, 2009

Photos of the altar we made for my sister Yolanda; my friend Rachel's uncle Jesse; friend Nancey's father and dog, Dharma; friend Brian's dog, Phoenix. Garfield Park (in San Francisco's Mission District) was absolutely packed with revelers, so we found a lovely spot in quiet Balmy alley (where there are a lot of murals) under a Datura bush. The top picture shows one of the Datura flowers with the full moon above. Click this italics text for a fictional essay based on this event for my social media / Twitter novel.

T
he Nova Avon Social Media Fiction Project is the story of events in the life of a fictional character named Nova Avon. It is an internet project that I am building using social media (interactive websites that people use to communicate with one another, usually about their everyday lives). The main thread (or frame) of the project is on http://TheNovaAvon.blogspot.com/ ; Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter are also used. The project is based in writing, and also includes photographs, videos, collage and other graphic art.
